I took a shared taxi from Srinagar to reach Sonamarg. Travel time is two hours. After getting necessary permissions from the tourism office, I camped near the Sonamarg bridge.
Sonamarg to Nichnai Pass
Started the trek after breakfast, going through meadows and table top. Finally reaching the pass by evening. Altitude here is 4000 meters.
Nichnai Pass to Vishansar Lake
A gentle descent followed by a long walk to reach the lake. The views just keep getting better as you pass through this part of the trek.
Vishansar to Gadsar via Gadsar Pass
I passed through Kishansar lake and a steep climb up to reach Gadsar Pass at 4200 meters. It was raining whole day and the trail had become precariously slippery. Reached Gadsar lake and had my pack lunch. Continued on the trail to reach the camping site by noon.
Gadsar to Satsar
Today's trek was short but beautiful walk through the grasslands. Heavy rain continues.
Satsar to Nandkol
Trail continues along the boulders and a gentle climb up to the pass. Three lakes can be seen from this pass. I made a quick descent to reach Nandkol. Lot of garbage around. Nangbal is the largest lake of this whole trek.
Nandkol to Naranag
Woke up early and started the long descent to Naranag. Reached in few hours after crossing the forest bloc. Took a taxi back to Srinagar.
