A big thank you to Ashlesha, who first suggested that we must go somewhere. Sometimes, the best trips aren’t about visiting iconic landmarks or ticking off a long list of tourist spots. Instead, they’re about spending time with old friends, sharing laughs, and creating memories that will stay with you forever. This trip to Vasai and Virar with my friends was one of those unforgettable experiences. From unexpected pranks to exploring hidden gems, here’s how we made the most of every moment.
Day 1: A Prank, A Train, and Laughter Galore
Our journey began on 24th January when we boarded the Deccan Express from Pune. But right from the start, I was tricked by Ashlesha and Prashant. They made me believe they had missed the train, and I was left thinking I would have to travel alone. I was confused and slightly worried, trying to figure out how would they catch up. The surprise came when they showed up at the next station, laughing at how easily they had fooled me!
After arriving in Dadar, we squeezed ourselves into a local train to Borivali. It was crowded, to say the least, but finally, we reached Borivali, where our friend Rohit picked us up and took us to his place in Virar. The evening was spent relaxing and had dinner at a local dhaba where nothing was good except the Nan.But we didnt bother much, such experiences are part and parcel of the tour. We talked late into the night, reminiscing about old times.
Day 2: Vasai Fort, Beach Vibes & A Birthday Surprise
Our second day started with vada pav for breakfast, brought by Rohit from a well-known place nearby. It was the perfect start — simple, tasty, and very Mumbai.
After breakfast, we visited a nearby Ganpati temple to start the day on a peaceful note. From there, we headed towards the Vasai Fort (Vasai Killa). On the way, we passed through Vasai village, which was full of greenery and peaceful surroundings. The calmness and beauty of the place really stood out, especially compared to city life.
At Vasai Fort, we spent a lot of time exploring the old structure and clicked countless photos. It was fun to just walk around, enjoy the ruins, and take in the history of the place. After that, we stopped by a church, though we didn’t go inside — just saw it from the outside.
Then we headed straight to Bhuigaon Beach. We had our lunch there and then sat on the beach, talking and relaxing. We had a lot of good conversations and shared a lot of laughs. It was the kind of quality time that stays with you.
One of the highlights of the day was at the beach — I took control of a car for the first time. I had never driven before, but Prashant insisted that I give it a try. I managed to start the car and learn a bit about the gears. It was a small moment, but one that felt really exciting.
In the evening, we made our way to Rohit’s home in Kandivali. The journey from Vasai to Kandivali was tiring, especially with the traffic, so once we reached, we just relaxed for a bit.
But the day wasn’t over yet. To my surprise, my lovely friends had planned a birthday celebration for me. It was unexpected and really special. It made the day even more memorable and ended it on a happy note.

Day 3: Cancelled Plans, A Delayed Train & The Greatest Prank Ever
Our third day didn’t begin on a great note. Rohit had a fever, so we had to cancel our original plan for the day. Instead of heading out, we stayed at his place and decided to cook breakfast and lunch at home. Even though it wasn’t part of the plan, it turned out to be a nice change. We ate together, relaxed, and enjoyed some quiet time before heading back to Pune.
After lunch, we packed up and left for the station. Our train, the Deccan Queen, was scheduled to leave from CSMT at 5:10 PM. But we made a small miscalculation with the timing and realized we would only reach by 5:05 PM — cutting it way too close. We were all tensed.
Just then, I received a message from IRCTC saying the train was delayed by 2.5 hours. I was sitting beside Ashlesha, with Prashant nearby. That’s when Ashlesha came up with another prank — and I happily joined in.
We decided not to tell Prashant about the delay. Instead, we told him that we’d get off the local train at Marine Lines and take a taxi to CSMT to catch our train. But as we reached Marine Lines, we told him to run quickly — and he did! He had no idea what was really going on. Then, we told him we’d missed the train and would now take the Mahalaxmi Express at 7:30 PM instead.
With some time to spare, we roamed around a bit and visited Hanging Garden and Malabar Hill. Later, we finally reached CSMT around 7:30 PM. Standing next to the train, the name “Deccan Queen” was clearly written — but Prashant still didn’t notice anything. We continued the prank, telling him this was the Mahalaxmi Express and we’d just get off at Dadar.
But of course, the Deccan Queen doesn’t stop at Dadar — and that’s when we finally told him the truth. He couldn’t believe it. Honestly, it was one of the best pranks I’ve ever been a part of. We were all laughing like crazy.
We reached home around 11 PM, tired but full of stories. This trip wasn’t really about checking off tourist spots or seeing too many places. It was more about meeting old friends, making memories, and just spending quality time together. And in that sense, it was perfect.
