It would be the first time that I was introduced to the Open-air museum when I was googling about things to do in Nijmegen. It certainly hooked me to do more research on it as where it is, when we can visit the museum, what all it has to offer.
All the investigation led to a day trip to Nijmegen to explore the Afrika Museum. When we started, I had no expectations as to such, but when I left from there, I was reincarnated. The weather had its charm that day which made our trip more memorable.
To start with the Afrika museum is a hybrid between indoor and outdoor recreation. It encompasses the whole of African ethnicity, covering from art and culture to videos and photographs of important moments. The interior consists of the traditional ancient sculptures as well as contemporary arts of African influence. The exterior part of the museum hosts replica models of earlier dwellings of important and well-known cities of Africa.
The history of this museum and how it reshaped elaborate homage to Africa is an important fact to check out in the videos of the museum itself. There are many facts to learn if you visit the site.
Other than this you can also find a vast area of sculpture garden to have a walk to explore the green fields, exciting architecture and rich Dutch forestry too.
Pro tip: An exciting place to have little picnics with your family, friends or neighbours.
Another honest tip: Do check out the cute Museum café to try out Pita pittige kip dish from there menu. I was tongue-tied. Let me know if you have tried on my suggestion, would love to start a conversation.
