Day 1
Rajasthan is a place which always attracts tourists. Being a travel freak I always wanted to explore this place too. This place has so much too explore and obviously I have many stories about this place to write.
Though I have a whole bunch of notes colored in golden, blue and pink, in this blog I am going to talk about chokhi Dhani only which is most integral part of the pink city,Jaipur.
This is actually to help those people who have less time for travelling and wait for weekends to get away from hustle bustle of city life.
Obviously, for Rajasthan you need to have at least 8 days in your hand though money is not an issue for Rajasthan because they treat warmly all the 'musafirs'.
So for all the workaholics I am writing about this compact Rajasthan.
Chokhi Dhani is about 6 hours drive from the Capital city, Delhi. The best time to reach this place is 6 PM.
You will be welcomed with the song ' kesariya baalam padharo mahre desh' and with a tilak on your forehead at the entrance.
Then you can buy the tickets and start your journey of this compact Rajasthan.
Behind the ticket counter you can find a board enlisting all the attractions of this place where you can go and enjoy. Some places are included in the ticket but for some you have to buy additional ticket.
Whole Chokhi Dhani is made of mud and is given the feel of villages in Rajasthan. You can find huts, verandas, lakes, chaupals and many things giving all the needed touch of Rajasthan.
For kids, there are various fun games, the magician doing really tricky tricks, acrobats and candy shops. Also one can enjoy the desert King's ride here for 10 minutes.
Dance lovers can explore different forms of rajasthani dance here and also try their leg too. Here you can also dress up like rajasthani people and get clicked. Girls could get free mehandi (heena) on their hands.
Most exhilarating thing is one can witness sunset and moonrise at the same time here from the rooftop. The view of Choki Dhani at this juncture could give you a piece of smile on your workaholic face.
For shopping maniacs there is a 'kala-gram' where one can find all rajasthani stuff and buy for really reasonable price for their home or themselves. And you will find real creativity at this kala-gram. For city people who have never seen a village this could be place where they can even witness a 'pashu-shala' where cows and buffalos are kept.
Obviously, all these things are tiring but one don't need to worry because you will also find really nice beds , sofas and also 'charpayis' to relax.
And when finally your stomach can't wait to be filled, show your ticket to the 'bhai sa' and enter the 'rajasthani food factory'. They will serve in the authentic rajasthani style with all the mouth-watery cuisines. But they will feed you until your stomach is ready to burst.
After dinner you can go back or can relax till the place shut off for the day. At the exit you can find a ' pan-bhandar' to end your day with a sweet feeling.
So Chokhi Dhani is the place you must visit on your next weekend if you haven't till now. This place is perfect for one day expedition and also doesn't hurt your pockets. One can explore all this just for 600 rupees!!
