Day 10

We were not in mood to leave this place. I really wished this place should have been near to Pune. They say some goodbyes are painful this was one of them.

Today our journey was comparatively smaller ,only 4.5 hrs. We decided to go slow. Since we skipped our breakfast, we had brunch on dhaba on the way.

I had good nap while Sumeet was driving. When I woke up,we were in Gurudaspur, constituency of Late Vinod Khanna.  We saw sugarcane juice vendors on road so stopped by to have one. It's a must try. Sugarcane juice here is different from what we get in Maharashtra. No added sugar or ice rather to they add orange, mint and ginger while grinding the sugarcane.

We reached our hotel by 3 pm . We took some rest and stepped out to explore the city. We took battery rickshaw. Unless you want few dents on your car and you know few Punjabi gallies don't take your car to explore the city. Traffic is horribly managed better use public transportation.

We went to Golden temple. We didn't go inside the temple but spent time in the premises. It was seren and peaceful experience. They have a museum about history of Punjab and Sikhism. Do visit that.  Only thing that has suprised me, person who assassinated former prime minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi, his photofame is in the museum as Martyr.

We attended evening prayer in the temple and decided to come early morning again. By this time we were very hungry. We had 2 options either to check near by dhaba's famous for its Amritsari Kulchas or try nonveg food which is less known in tourist. Since childhood we have been eating "Amritsari fish" so it was must try dish on my list while there in Amritsar.

We tried 2 joints Makhan fish famous for there fish fry and Beera chicken house (nothing to do with Bira beer). Makhan fish was overhyped. I have had better Amritsari fish fry in Mumbai /Nagpur but tandoori chicken was good. In Bira we tried butter chicken, kheema naan. Butter chicken was way to different from what we get in Mumbai/Pune. I didn't like it much but rest of the family enjoyed it.
