It is the largest waterfall in Kerala and is nicknamed "The Niagara of India".It takes almost 2 hours to reach from Cherai to the Falls. The walk down to the falls is quite long and a bit difficult for the kids or elders. However, once you are near the falls, all the efforts seem worth it. It must be quite a view after rains. Both the falls are worth the visit.

Kumarakom is a sleepy little village on Vembanad Lake in Kerala. It offers wide variety of flora, exotic sightseeing, boating and fishing experience.Kumarakom is a tourist paradise with many a sight to see. It is one of the foremost travel destinations on the planet and a crown jewel of Kerala tourism.

The legendary backwaters of Kumarakom have brought visitors from far and wide to its shores. The houseboats are the mode of transport to experience the serene backwaters. You get the option to stay on the houseboats for the nite or go for the half day ride of 4 hours. You are even served food on the boat. The dancing palm trees and the exquisite houseboats are just an added advantage or flourishes to your vacation.

On our way to Kumarakom, we visited Fort Kochi. This is part of a handful of water-bound regions toward the south-west of the mainland Kochi, and collectively known as Old Kochi or West Kochi.Places worth visiting are the Chinese Fishing Nets, Naval Command Museum, the Beach, Synagogue and Churchs.

Marari Beach is an hours drive from Kumarakom, around 40kms. If you dream of being alone in paradise, well this is the place! Absolutely no one around except palm trees & the ocean. The beach is very clean and sand is golden brown. This is the perfect place to enjoy the ocean and it's peace. It's a must visit place of you are in Kerala. Marari beach has been awarded as the Travelers Choice Award 2015.

Cherai Beach is located in Paravur Taluk, Kerala, India. Cherai Beach is just 25 km from Kochi, and 30 km from Cochin International Airport and the nearest railway station is Aluva. We stayed at Club Mahindra Resort, Cherai Beach. It's quite well located with roaring sea on one side and calm and serene backwaters on the other. The resort has sea facing rooms as well as cottages facing the backwaters. We went on a trip to see Jumping Fish. It was quite an experience watching fish jumping around you.Cherai Beach water has quite a lot of weeds and is very crowded during the evenings. Best time to goto the beach is early morning.

We had planned a 7N/ 8D trip to Kerala. It was a very laid back trip. We wanted to enjoy the places and relax, so we stayed at 2 places - Cherai Beach and Kumarakom. Cherai Beach was a 4N stay and Kumarakom was 3N. We enjoyed the beaches, the backwaters and the amazing food to the fullest.

The bird sanctuary spread across 14 acres is safe home for many migratory birds like Siberian stork, wild duck etc. They live with other birds in flocks such as darters, herons, egret, waterfowls and cuckoos are fascinating sight for the visitors. You need to go early in the morning to see the birds in full glory.
