About the property

One of the finest luxury resorts in India, Kumarakom Lake resort nestles on the banks of Lake Vembanad. The vast backwaters with a wide variety of flora and fauna give a stunning backdrop to the opulent resort, which just adds to its charm.

The resort is spread across 25 acres of lush greenery and has been awarded the World Travel Award,2015 as India’s leading resort for the last four years. The resort offers many modern facilities like the infinity swimming pool, conference room, fitness centre and many activities on the lake including a houseboat tour of the lake.

There are many kinds of villas here from presidential villas to heritage lake villas with private pools. Each villa is constructed in the traditional Kerala style of manas which is the 16th century homestead of Kerala. Many manas have been transplanted from their original location and reassembled by hand in order to give the original feel of a Keralan household. The traditionally styled and luxurious modern rooms and villas are perfect for that restful holiday you have always wanted!

Cost

There are many different types of accommodation here from the royal presidential suites to the comfortable pool villas.

The luxury pavilion room is Rs 18,500/per night. Up to three people can be accommodated here. The amenities include a coffee maker, newspaper, garden view, ironing board, TV, turndown service. One can also add a buffet breakfast from Rs 700/night per person.

The pool villa room rate starts from Rs 16,650, breakfast included.

There are many packages also available at the Kumarakom Lake Resort. There are ayurveda packages which take care of rejuvenation, panchakarma de-stress and many more. The treatments help to tone and strengthen the system by undertaking the traditional Kerala ayurvedic treatments.

They include buffet breakfast, sunset cruises, ayurveda Spa treatments, Yoga and Meditation classes. You can also choose from their Honeymoon packages and backwater breaks -packages.

Food

They have four different restaurants for different moods and cuisines. The Ettukettu speciality restaurant focuses on continental, chinese, mughlai, north Indian and traditional Kerala culinary delicacies. The speciality of the restaurant is the ethnic Kerala cuisine with a slew of fragrant spices. There are many buffet spreads also that happen during breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Vembanad the seafood bar, serves the traditional and fresh seafood thats found on the Vembanad lake. Set alongside the lake itself, it provides for a picturesque background to the lovely cuisine they have to offer. They have a dedicated chef in constant attendance.

Thattukada, the traditional tea shop is recreated at the resort in its original ambience. There is a boiling vessel that continuously makes the traditional tea and the open air kitchen gives the entire place a very rustic ambience!

The "pool pavilion", is set by the banks of the infinity pool which provides for a fine-dining experience in peaceful seclusion. Perfect for those romantic candlelit dinners!

Best time to go

The best time to visit here is from September to March as the weather is not too hot. However, slightly highest temperatures can be expected in the afternoons, it will cool down in the evenings.

How to get here

The nearest metro city is Kochi

By air: Kochi International Airport is the nearest airport to Kumarakom. From here it’s 85 kilometres away by cab.

By road: There are many state run buses that run which can take you till Kumarakom. They ply from Kottayam to Kumarakom.

By train: The nearest railway station to Kumarakom is the Kottayam railway station, located 16 kilometres away.

What to do here and around the property

Since the property is near the glorious lake, there are many water-based activities that can be done here. From a sunset cruise, to a houseboat stay, water sports, speedboats and banana boat rides, the activities are enough to keep you entertained and give a push to your adventurous side.

Other than that, there are many things to do in Kumarakom, like visit the beautiful bird sanctuary, Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary which houses many migratory birds.
