BEST TIME TO VISIT

Nag Tibba is a winter trek, hence the best months to experience the snow are from Mid December to Early March.However, one can visit it all year long.

HOW TO REACH

The trek starts from a village called Pantwari which is 4 hours away from Dehradun.Hence,Dehradun is the closest airport as well as railway station.If you are planning to travel from Delhi, buses are plying to both Dehradun and Mussoorie.From Dehradun/Mussoorie one can take personal or shared taxi/cab till Pantwari village.The cost of the cab is ranges from Rs2500 to 3500 and the shared cost ranges from Rs200-300 per person.

P.s Make sure you reach Dehradun/Mussoorie by early morning.

The trek starts from Pantwari village at around 12 o'clock where one has to follow a rocky trail going right through the village.On this trail you will encounter a few huts and animals that the people of the village rear.

On the way to the peak you will get to see Rhododendron forests, ankle-deep snow, and amazing views of some of the highest peaks of the Himalayas.

At the end of the forest trail the base camp comes into view. If one maintains a steady pace uphill one can reach the base camp in 5 hoursEven after taking breaks to rest and take pictures we managed to reach the base camp by 5:00pmAfter dumping your luggage in your tents, the snacks will be served and one can enjoy the spectacular view of the sunset from here.We were lucky to have amazing hosts who treated us with utmost warmth and care.At night you can enjoy the dinner with bonfire.P.s If you are doing the trek on your own then be prepared because you will not find any shops that sell food or water on the way of this trek.Though you will find a few natural sources to quench your thirst.

On the second day, the trek starts early and you get to experience breathtaking morning views at the base camp itself.The trek takes you further into forest and you'll find the trail mostly covered with tall trees that block the sunlight.An hour into the trek you will be able to see the first signs of snow. In January the whole trail is covered in snow.The last leg of this trail becomes a rocky ,steep climb of 40-50 minutes after which you reach the Nag Tibba Peak!

At the peak, the highest point is marked by a Flag.From the summit one can get a pristine view of the Himalayan ranges of Swargrohini, Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, Srikanta, and Gangotri.The whole section looks beautifully carpeted in snow making it a true winter trek.Photo of Nag Tibba Trek 16/17 by NavigatioGirls
