Pangot – A Birding Paradise!

Tripoto

“To be standing together in a frosty field, looking up into the sky, marveling at birds and reveling in the natural world around us, was a simple miracle. And I wondered why we were so rarely able to appreciate it.” — Lynn Thomson, Birding with Yeats: A Mother’s Memoir

This June I was blessed with an invite to my childhood friend’s beautiful home in the hills. I have been there before on 2 days stay but this time it was different !!

The delighters — the uninterrupted view of the hills and valleys, the lovely collection of plants and trees in their property and most importantly a birder’s paradise (Its within the Pangot & Kilbury region which is now a part of the Naina Devi Himalayan Birds Conservation Reserve). This region is known to have the oak, pine and rhododendron trees in plenty in its forests.

This is a photo post mainly as I share the photos and videos captured of the birds I came across while just chilling out at her abode. A major portion of her property was not scanned for these flighty beauties …… just the area around the bungalow.

The photos and videos have been captured on a new Sony Cybershot (point and shoot) thus tested for the first time through these pictures & AVs (99% of the photos are on full zoom)

I have tried my best to identify the birds but in case there is an err please do share the correct name; it would be of great help.
