What is Tell Pass?

This is a pass for a specific area in Switzerland which covers very famous tourist attractions. It includes all modes of transport including access to mountains (Railways, Local public transport, Ferry rides, mountain cable cars and mountain railways).

Which are most famous attractions covered in this pass?

Using this pass you can visit following attractions and many more :

1. Mt Titlis - 3000+ meters high mountain. Fantastic views of Swiss alps, Cliff walk at 3000 meters, ice flyer makes this a magnet for tourists. For more info click here.

2. Mt Pilatus - 2000+ meters high with elegent view of the Lucerne Lake, city and mountains. For more info click here. The Golden round trip from Lucerne to Mt Pilatus with world's steepest cogwheel is very famous.

3. Mt Rigi - Also known as "Queen of the hills". This mountain has a special mountain railway. The view from top is breathtaking! For more information click here

4. Roth horn : On top of Breinz lake. Its an experience to watch a turquoise lake from the top. For more information click here

Each of the above mountain visits costs approximately 100 CHF per person from base stations.

5. Ferries in Lake Lucerne- It is like a dream destination. A lake midst of the mountains. Wonderful experience to sail in the water.

6. Golden Pass Train journey : The starting part of world famous Golden Pass rail journey is between from Lucerne to Interlaken East. Passing through the dreamland is an Experience!

There are many more attractions in the area of Central Switzerland which Lucerne at its heart. You can find the list here. I myself have experienced all of the above mentioned attractions except Roth horn. Each of them feels like a Heaven on the earth!

How much does it cost & valid for how many days?

Tell Pass is having different rate for Summer (April to October) and Winter (November to March) based on peak and off peak seasons. It starts from 110 CHF in Winter & 180 CHF in Summer for 2 days. Once you have this pass, you don't have to pay a penny extra for the places covered under this pass.

How many days is suggested to choose?

Its up to your itinerary. All places are worth a visit. But usually it is better to select 3 days Tell Pass and visit beautiful mountains hassle free. If your schedule is tight, you can also plan for 2 days Tell Pass.

How can I purchase this Tell Pass?

It is possible to purchase it online here and print at home. Also you can purchase it in any Switzerland Tourism office across 80 outlets once you land in Switzerland.

What is the area covered by this pass?

Tell pass network can be found here. So if you are travelling from outside of this network, buy discounted train tickets only till starting place of Tell pass map here .

Pro Tip: In winter season (November to March) to attract more tourists, all listed accommodations in Lucerne tourism website provides free Tell Pass for all guests. However this may change every year. In 2017 we got 2 free Tell pass worth of 220 CHF for our stay of 2 nights at Lucerne old town which costed less than that :-)
