You can visit the nearby villages of Parakha, Barapathing and Rolep. There is a waterfall near the Parakha village that you can visit. Also the handicraft centre will show you the local arts and crafts of Sikkim. Also visit the Machong monastery that is almost 150 years old.

How to Reach:

Yakten is only 35 km from Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim.

Nearest Airport: Bagdogra is the nearest airport and is 145 km away.

Nearest Railhead: New Jalpaiguri (NJP) is the nearest Railway head.

From NJP or Bagdogra, you will get shared as well as private vehicles to Gangtok. From Gangtok, you have to book a car to Yatken.

Best Time to Visit:

You can visit Yakten at any time of the year. The summers are mild and thus attract a lot of tourists because of the climate. So it is a perfect place to beat the summer heat of the plains.

The winters experience quite low temperatures, though the winters are one of the best seasons to visit, as you will get the best and clear views of the mountain ranges. Monsoons are best to be avoided.
