This tea plantations stated as the highest tea plantations in the world. It's about 8000feet above msl. This place is actually in Tamil Nadu. comes under Kothagudi plantations. But road access is from Suryanelli a place about 20km from Munnar. Only off road Jeeps are allowed from suryanelli to this place. The fee for jeep is 2000 INR. En route it passes through Suryanelli estate. The tea factory is very old. It is operated manually. The guides there explains all the processes in tea making. The big machines were brought from UK by the british. there is a sales outlet there where in can buy premium quality tea which otherwise is not available in local market. entry fee to this place is 100 INR. There is no hotel accommodation available here. But some operators arrange tent accommodation here.
The sunrise view point is on The kerala side. We had a wonderful view of the sunrise. On the way there is a modern tea factory at suryanelli. The entry fee here is Rs.150/.
