Hello all, I finally managed to travel out of Yorkshire after a long while.

As usual we started at the Leeds Coach station. Roundtrip tickets in national express costs £11.50, it's just a 1 hour journey from Leeds.

Useful tips:

Get the tram pass for zone 1 & 2 for £3.8 off peak season, just a quick way to get around the city. You could also walk around Manchester, every area is different from the other and you get to see the transition between one part from another.

The small city is compact and very well colour coordinated. If you get to the city before 10:30 you can hear the echoes of the cathedral bells toll throughout the city.

If you are hungry just try the little shops at the Markets, there's a fair at the market very often.

Walking through the city look for the famous worker bee emblem of Manchester.

The Manchester worker bee is one of the best-known symbols of Manchester and has been an emblem for the city for over 150 years. The bee denotes Mancunians’ hard work ethic and the city being a hive of activity.

Today's trip features Rithika and Hari, my South Indian UK travel buddies.

Another checklist done.

Day 1

We got off at the coach station which is close to everything you ever want to see in Manchester. If you like football, you will probably want to visit the football museum, the tickets are £8 for students. I'm not much of a fan myself so I clicked a few pics outside the museum and continued my voyage.

The tourist information centre is close by, they can tell you exactly what you should do. After a quick stop at the information centre, we headed to the St Anne's square.

We were lucky enough to witness a jazz festival running at that time. The place was full of nice cosy cafes with lovely live smooth jazz playing down the alley.

Next stop was Manchester Art gallery, we took the tram to St James stop and walked to the gallery. Stay tuned for some amazing Art pics!

If you have a day pass, you should definitely go to Peel park. The park is surrounded by University buildings. You will find numerous benches along the river. It's a place for a good sunny day.

Castlefield is the birthplace of Manchester, it was a very important piece of area for the British during the industrial revolution. The rivers Medlock and Irwell was the main reason for the growth of Castlefield and then eventually Manchester. It brought in goods from Liverpool to be stored in the Warehouses in the surrounding areas.

We went there to walk by the canal, you will find ducks paddling accross the river hoping for a treat from one of the tourists.

You can take a tram back to the city centre after your stroll by the canal.

We took the 7:45 bus back to Leeds.

Manchester was a spectacular city with its very chill vibe and lovely alleyways. The well coordinated streets makes it easier to navigate throughout the city in a day (maybe 2 days if you like football, 3 days if you love it!).

Manchester didn't disappoint at all! Untill next time Manchester.
