Have been to New York several times and have stayed there for extended period every time - average 2 months in every trip. In this itinerary i have tried to use my experience of New York and create 4-5 days plan for fellow travelers who want to experience this extraordinary city.
For first time travelers, best way to explore the city is to take a city tour on the first day. This will provide overview of the city and then you can chose the areas you want to explore deeper. I hope you enjoy the energy, vibration, culture and everything else this amazing city has to offer.
Arguably the best skyline in the world. There are several points from where you can enjoy thebeautiful skyline of NYC - my favorites are Brooklyn Promenade and Newport/Pavonia (Jersey City). Indians may be able to recognize these two points from Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna movie. Many scenes in the movie have been shot here.
Connects Manhattan and Brooklyn. A landmark structure and provides amazing view NYC skyline. For SRK fans, Kal Ho Na Ho song was shot here.
Major commercial hub in Manhattan. You must have seen this place in almost every movie that had anything to do with NYC. One of the most famous tourist attraction. Just walk around and enjoy. Tonic bar and Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square are worth visiting if you are hungry or in a mood for a quick drink. Also check out "Toys R Us" store to see huge collection of toys.
High End shopping street with stores like Chanel, Versace, Dior etc. Good place for window shopping :-). Has some interesting eating options too. Also check Bergendoof Goodman store in 5th Avenue.
Central Park is the 843-acre masterpiece of landscape architecture. As one of America's greatest works of art and the nation's first public park, Central Park has become the most famous and beloved urban park in the world. This is a landmark in mew York and a must visit for everyone. Make sure you have enough time in hand to enjoy this park completely.
Wall Street is mecca of capitalism. This is the place that controls finance of the world. Take a walk from 9/11 memorial at one end and pass through St Paul's Chapel all the way to Battery park. Brooklyn Bridge is walking distance from the memorial. Do try Burrito's at Chipotle restaurant. There is a discount store Century 21 nearby of you are looking for some bargain.
Was gateway to millions of immigrants during 19th and early 20th century. Visit Immigration museum to get some interesting facts about the mixed population of US as we see today.
Can't say anything that has not been told before. You have to see this if you are in NYC. Period.
One of the most happening shopping district of NYC. Just take a walk and get in stores if something interests you. Shopping is not cheap here though. Check out Sephora Mall for some window shopping and maybe for some buying.
Beautiful waterfront with lots of eating option. You can also find some good shopping stores around.
Used to be great bargain shopping earlier but now things are more strict. Still a good place for street shopping.
One of the most famous buildings in the world. Do go to the top (ticket required) to get mesmerizing 360 view of NYC. You can easily spot famous NYC landmarks from observation deck.
New York has one of the biggest Macy's stores. Great place to shop. Besides Macy's you can also look at other great stores like Banana Republic and Victoria's Secret for your shopping needs.
One of the busiest train terminal of NYC. Beautiful architecture and good market nearby to shop. Must visit for first timers.

Like every major city in the world, NYC too has its own Chinatown. Go for a walk, enjoy Chinese food and street shopping.
Coney Island’s sunny skies and rolling waves make for the perfect getaway. If being active at the beach is more your idea of fun than just catching some rays, Coney Island also offers exciting recreation opportunities. With courts for beach volleyball, handball, and basketball as well as playgrounds and amusement rides, the beach and boardwalk can provide hours of entertainment.
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is dedicated to the exhibition and interpretation of history, science, and service as related to its home aboard the aircraft carrier Intrepid, a National Historic Landmark. As you explore the Museum you will be able to examine original artifacts, view historic video footage, and explore interactive exhibits.
Its beautiful waterfront and flower gardens make Battery Park a lovely place to wander. For those who'd like a longer stroll, the park’s location at the southern tip of Manhattan makes it a classic starting point for walking tours through the city.
Explore the vibrant vistas, rich ecology, and expansive piers of this special waterfront park. View of NYC from the park is just awesome.

great museum even for those who are not interested in history. Trust me, this one won't bore you.
You must try to catch at least one show in Broadway. Shows are just beautiful.Tickets are not cheap but it's worth spending for a lifetime experience.
