This groundbreaking scheme, known as the ‘Shri Ramlala Darshan (Ayodhya Dham)’ aims to provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for residents in the age group of 18-75 to seek the blessings of Lord Ram at his birthplace. The BJP government in Chhattisgarh, fulfilling yet another promise made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 2023 Assembly elections, has brought this ambitious plan to fruition.

What's in it for tourists?

As per news, people who are found medically fit by a committee appointed in each district will be eligible for this pilgrimage. In the first phase, the selection will commence for those above the age of 55, with special provisions made for people with disabilities to be accompanied by a family member.

Here's how tourism board is planning to facilitate this:

With the aim to promote religious tourism in the state, the tourism board will be responsible for the implementation of this scheme, with necessary funding provided by the tourism department.

The excitement is palpable in the state as this scheme is being seen as a game-changer for the tourism industry and a huge boost for the spiritual landscape of Chhattisgarh. And good news is that a memorandum of understanding will be signed with the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation to arrange a weekly special train for the pilgrims, with the main destination being Ayodhya. The tour will also include a night halt in Varanasi, where devotees will have the opportunity to visit the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple and participate in the renowned Ganga Aarti.
