I always saw rafting videos on TV either in movies or on travel channels .
When I finally decided to got to Rishikesh in the month of June I wanted to get this adventure activity out from the television set into reality .
This is how it was possible
We booked our camp site at Camp wildex with a package which included rafting.
On the 23rd we woke up early and the camp instructor arranged local jeeps for us to reach Shivpuri Rafting point.
We met our raft instructors and they told us to carry the raft down .Our mobile phones were kept in a safety bag and my sd card was taken by the raft instructor for his Go Pro.
Here is how the site looked.
As soon as we reached Shivpuri we witness a market of rafts. It was chaotic !!.We saw rafts ontop of jeeps ,people with helmets, rafts and the rover.
We were given instructions and also given a small demo on how to raft .
With smiles on our faces and a 16 km long rafting experience we began our amazing adventure activity.
With turns and twists on the way and the soothing Ganga embracing us the activity was one of the most amazing ones .
The raft instructor had named a few turns with funny names . He instructed us throughout the journey and chanted with 'Ganga mata ki jai !' at regular intervals.
At intervals when the speed of the water current was slow we jumped into the river and swam .The water was extremly cold .

We also had the experience of Cliff jumping .
The rafting experience was one to remember .I heard that the Uttarakhand Government has banned rafting in order to protect the river Ganga .
I feel Lucky to have rafted in Rishikesh.
