Bangalore is famous for bakeries, and everyone knows it. Keeping aside the typical Iyengar Bakery stalls you see everywhere in all parts of India; these two bakehouses stand out in every possible way because they give you the western touch and add real taste to the recipes they deliver on tables. I'm an ardent lover of cafes but when I see bakehouses, I love exploring my western taste for sure because I quite don't have taste buds for Indian spicy food.
More than the food, I like to sit in peace at places that have a good ambiance, particular style, and sophistication. These two spots check all the boxes with fine class and delicacy. They are Glen's bakehouse at Indiranagar and Zed- the baker at Church Street. Being a frequent visitor to Bangalore, I'm obsessed with visiting these beautiful bakeries again and again. Now let me give you a complete visual description of my love for these bakeries.
Glen's Bakehouse:
This is the most popular bakehouse in Bangalore which has four chains at four happening locations with the consistency of an exotic menu and delicious recipes. Apart from my favorite location Indiranagar, one can witness these bake spots at Lavelle Road, Koramangala, and Jayanagar too. My first visit to this bakehouse was back in 2016 when I used to get trained at my Loreal academy. This was my regular place to have lunch and my order was also pretty consistent. A chocolate croissant, a red velvet cupcake, and coffee used to be my regular go-to order. This bakehouse was one of the top spots I missed badly when I moved out of Bangalore. Since then, whenever I visit Bangalore, I love going back to this bakery. Unlike my previous orders, I started exploring all kinds of options here on my every visit.
I'm that person who tags people with me whenever I find a good bakery or cafe with unforgettable food options, and I lost the count of people I took to this specific bakehouse in Indiranagar. It gives the vibe of an English bakehouse, especially with the dim incandescent cozy lighting, rock walls, plants, iron craft, animated posters, and especially the aroma of fresh bread and cake.
The best part is all these bakehouses are situated at accessible and happening spots in Bangalore. The Indiranagar one is at the beginning of 100 feet road right beside another popular rooftop bar called "Toit". And coincidentally I like bakeries that exist right beside bars because they add a high factor to my systems whenever I go out in Bangalore.
From having a typical English breakfast in the morning, chocolate muffins over espresso shots in the brunch, pizza with fresheners as lunch in the afternoon, cupcakes and lasagna with fries over cappuccinos in the evening to having various kinds of pasta as dinners in the night, I pretty much explored all kinds of recipes to savor my taste buds at this place. The feeling remains the same even though I go with my people having crazy conversations over food and drinks or if I go all alone to work or to embrace my day individually or just to improve my moods if I have a bad day in Bangalore. This place is a pure ball of love for me and I never get tired of this bakehouse and all the aromatic flavors from the kitchens.
One must try Cheesecakes, red velvet cupcakes, croissants, pizzas, kinds of pasta, and English breakfast from here for sure.
Zed-the baker:
Soon after you step inside this vastly spread bakehouse at Church Street in Bangalore, you can feel the vibe of sophistication and elegance with a tint of Parisian bakehouse moods. Even this particular bakehouse is right beside one of the popular socials of Bangalore on Church Street. I could still remember every detail of my visit on Valentine's Day of 2022 even though I have visited this bakehouse at various other spots in Bangalore thrice with my pals. But that particular visit made me feel so special because I wanted to take myself on a date and surprisingly it went so well. Even though I had my date, I just needed that one hour of me-time to embrace self-love as I believe in it so much.
I mostly go with ordering various kinds of cheesecakes here on my every visit with some hot chocolate on the side. The food is top-notch even though some people find it a bit overpriced but more than the food, it's the ambiance that makes people spend a lovely time here. The chandeliers, the bohemian interiors, the high ceilings, the bright lighting, charming counter with welcoming staff are the factors that completely put this bakehouse the special one in Bangalore. I was treated like a princess here and I felt like one amidst those cozy moods.
Also, they have amazing macarons to try and during my Valentine's Day visit I got to savor these love edition macarons and they were the cutest. And on top of everything I got some complimentary cakes as I went all alone on that day with a typical girlfriend look. Unlike other bakehouses, I feel conscious of my wardrobe whenever I visit Zed because I always want to fit my sophisticated personality according to the classy touch this bakehouse spills consistently. Altogether this whole bakehouse is well-maintained, adorable, admirable, spacious, sultry, luxe, and love.
So, if you ever visit Bangalore and if you happen to be in Church Street or Indiranagar, please do visit these two bakehouses I love the most. I'm sure you will relate to every word I mentioned above.
Note: Both of these bakehouses have various stores at different places in Bangalore. So, no matter wherever you visit, you kind of feel the similar vibe with same kind of environment. Out of all those, Glen's Bakehouse of Indiranagar and Zed-the baker of Church Street remain my favorites.
