Beijing, China's sprawling capital has history stretching back three millenia. Yet it is known as much for modern architecture as its ancient sites such as the grand forbidden city complex, the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Nearly the massive Tiananmen square pedestrian plaza is the site of Mao Zedong 's mausoleum and the national museum of China, displaying a vast collection of cultural relics.

You will definitely be awestruck. To start with Great wall of China, followed by the following :

A series of fortifications that were built across the historical Northern borders of ancient Chinese states and imperial China as protection against various nomadic groups from the Eurasian steppe. It is running from the Jiayuguan pass in the west to the Hushan Mountains in Liaoning province in the east, ending at the Bojai Gulf.

Liu Bang of the Hans dynasty was the first emperor to use the wall as a means of regulating trade north along which was eventually became as the silk route or the silk trade road which later Han Dynasty emperor Wu Ti expanded and opened for trade between China and Europe in 130 BCE.

As it is a very expanded wall , many tourists cannot able to see the entire wall at a same time so the government of China for the ease of the travellers have introduced the option of the travellers have introduced the option of cable car at Badaling section from where the tourists can easily get a panaromic view of the endless wall of China. The scene of the wall expanding further and further eventually gives goosebumps. So many workers had lost their lives and families because of this wall making.

The wall witnessed those blood shedding sweat, pain, tears and agony as well. Rumours say that at night their spirits come and walk on the wall. The visit at the great wall is indeed thrilling. The wall has been declared by UNESCO as a world Heritage site.

The forbidden city was the political and ritual centre of China for over 500 yrs. After its completion in 1420, the city was the home to 24 emperors, their families and servants during the Ming and the Qing dynasties.

IMPERIAL GARDEN OF THE FORBIDDEN CITY:

The Imperial Garden is the Northern most point of the palace museum in Beijing, which is situated behind the palace of Earthly Tranquility. It was built for emperors and wives for relaxation and enjoy beautiful scenery but was also used for sacrificial rites.

The summer palace is a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens and palaces in Beijing. It was an imperial Garden in the Qing Dynasty. Mainly dominated by Longevity Hill and Kunming lake. The highlights of the palace include Kunming lake, the long corridor, Longevity Hill, the Marble boat and the Garden of Virtue and Harmony.

The paths beside the lake lead under the shady trees or along the roofed colounade known as the long corridor with its magnificently painted ceilings.
