Bentota Beach Reviews

I got a chance to visit this lovely, culturally rich country just for 5 days. No doubt days were too less to embrace all the goodness of this place and their friendly people. Wish I could at least spend a month there. Anyways there is always next time. But let me tell you all about it in short. Mythology, Folk music, dance, stories are the essence. Very Beautiful beaches on west-southern Sri Lanka like Bentota, Galle, Unawatuna. There are few not to be missed beaches on the East coast also. Even big cities like Colombo, Kandy, Galle are very calm, peaceful & neat. Being an Architect by profession, i visited many places designed by renowned Architect Geoffrey Bawa which include Lunuganga Estate in Bentota, Light house Hotel in Galle and few more in and around Bentota & Colombo. Couldn't visit SigiriyaRock & Anuradhapura(both World heritage Sites), Nuwara Eliya (A Hill Station nick named as Little England), YalaNational Park, Adam's Peakwhich are still on my list for next trip. People are very tourist friendly, helping and HAPPY. As far as i got it, even one with comparatively low income is very satisfied & happy with his life. One who is looking for Budget trip like mine should try public transport like Trains & Buses. They have good network. Taxis would cost a lot more. In the end, don't miss all these places & Plan for more days to actually absorb the real Sri Lanka. :)Frequent Searches Leading To This Page:- Best beach holiday destinations in Sri Lanka, Top Sri Lanka tour package for family, Best Sri Lanka honeymoon packages from Delhi, Sri Lanka honeymoon tour packages
We woke up to a clear blue sky. The breakfast was waiting for us, not a heavy one but a sumptuous one. We took in some of the gorgeous views from the hotel top, and were excited to head towards the beach in Bentota. Bentota is a resort town of Sri Lanka. The journey was amusing as we took in some of the best landscapes, stopped now and then for more photographs. Our guide played some Sinhalese music, surprisingly my mother knew a couple of them and hummed along. Mother and I talked about few memories that we have of each other of my childhood. Before I knew it, we had reached our destination at Bentota. Now, what a spectacular sight it was, we had chosen one of the best beach resorts. Sooner we checked into the room, were asked to join for a grand lunch buffet . After lunch, mother and I took a long walk on the beach and went back to our hotel rooms to rest for a while.
Bentota Wanted to try more shacks so started my day at Mambo’s for breakfast and straight away left for my last destination in a tuk-tuk from there. 47mins of breezy tuk-tuk ride and I landed in Bentota. Stay for the day, Avani Bentota Resort. I pretty much did the same thing on this day. Took to the pool and then took advantage of the resort being on the beachfront. Stayed the whole day on the beach, relaxing and feeling lucky about being in this country and realizing how 10 days were NOT enough to have it all but more than enough to fall in love with Lanka. ( https://bit.ly/2yRAbu5 ) I mean, I missed/skipped a lot of places from Mirissa to Unawatuna, Arugam Bay, Nuwara Eliya, Tangalle, Weligama, Trincomalee, Nilaveli, Dikwella, and kill me already. I know the next time I’m visiting this beautiful country, I am going there for a good 1-month-long break.
Since the trip was a short one we couldn’t really travel to all the places we’d like to but Bentotawas definitely on our list. A pretty long trip from the Colomboairport, this one was well worth it. We got there in the night and first up was a lavish dinner. I’ve heard so much about Sri Lankan cusine, this was one plate couldn’t wait to dig into! Sadly sea food doesn’t fare well for me but the spicy chicken curry and rice, fried prawn wafers, food cooked in coconut gravy was the one of the best meals I’d eaten.
Beruwala and Bentota are popular exotic beaches along the Colombo- Galle road located about 65km from Colombo. The Bentota lagoon stretches parallel to the beach adding a vista of tranquillity, with its tropical greenery and islets rich in bird life. Beruwala and Bentota are havens to tourists with accommodation to suit every budget, a range of Ayurveda treatments, and an array of water sports leaving the adventurer spoilt for choice! This tourist destination offers you water skiing on the rivers or estuaries, snorkelling, scuba diving, wind surfing, parasailing, fishing and a host of other activities to suit your mood.
