One of the must-dos in Dubrovnik is to spend a lazy evening sitting by the harbor and seeing ships sailing through the Adriatic. Due to its strategic location in the Adriatic sea, Dubrovnik always attracted footsteps from different parts of the World. Byzantines, Venetians, French, Russians kept coming here to trade, rule, and live. As in the earlier days, sea routes were the easiest way of transport, Dubrovnik became a major port city in no time. Situated within the city walls, the port is still functional. The larger part of sea transport occurs in the new harbor located in a different part of the city. But you will get boats for nearby islands from the harbour. In fact, you can rent a boat for a few hours or kayak from here.
Dubrovnik Old town is huge and has a lot of places to see. Cars are not allowed inside. So, you have to walk to explore. After walking daylong, the harbor will be the best place to relax your feet. If you still have some energy left, take a boat ride or kayak around the port. Else just sit and see the activities going around or sip a cocktail in one of the cafes located by the harbor. My suggestion will be to wait till the sun goes down and see the city transform into a fairyland land with lights and trinkets.
