Be it ruins, temples, party nights or beautiful sunsets, Hampi is one destination where every travel lover have to visit at least one in their life time. This place gives you everything. Food, culture, tradition, history, art and what not. It can be a small weekend trip where you can cover everything or can be a week long trip where you can discover and explore more.
So here is the total itinerary for 3 days where everything can be covered.
Since I had traveled from Hyderabad by an overnight train, I’ve been sharing this itinerary in my view.
And it’s always better to travel by train if you are looking for friendly budget trip.
Day 1:
Train reaches Hospet around 8 in the morning. If are just unlucky by me since most of the trains are unpredictable and late you will reach around 11 too.
From Hospet to Hampi it’s around 20 to 25 minutes drive where you can reach easily as public transportation is easily available. If not you can just hire an auto.
So I took auto from Hospet to Hampi. I just didn't remember the price for the initial deal, which is just dropping at the main center of Hampi. In middle of the ride, driver gave me a deal, where he shows the whole traditional side of Hampi, him acting as guide and we negotiated to 750 rs.
I had a booking in Padma guest house, which is located in the center, just 3 to 4 minutes walk to Virupaksha temple, street bazaar and barely 7 minutes walk to the river bank.
But, what I suggest is, do not book any hotel in traditional side. Hippie island is the main attraction for it's chilled life and partying nights. So, freshen up, have a breakfast and visit the whole traditional side like ruins and temples on 1st day.
Catch the most beautiful sunset near, which is 7 to 10 minutes hike from Virupaksha temple. but, don't forget to reach the bank of the river by 6 o clock to catch the last boat which leads you to Hippie island.
Try to do a coracle ride which costs you 5o rs. A normal boat ride would cost you 20 rs.
But, if you decide to stay at the traditional side, prefer to stay in Padma guest house or any other hotel which is nearby Virupaksha temple so that you can take stroll through Hampi street Bazaar, which is full of Boho dresses and many antique jewelry, healing stones and many more which you can get for cheap prizes. Eat at the famous Mango Tree restaurant and try Israeli Cuisine.
Day 2:
Since I stayed at the traditional side, I started my day by 8 o clock, reached Hippie island.
Once you reach there, rent a bike which you can get as cheap as Rs.200 per day and another 100 to 200 bucks for petrol.
There are few spots where you can enjoy the nature. Take the help of locals to reach out.
If you want to enjoy parties, music and night life with lot of people around, I prefer a home stay at Nargilla. If you want to enjoy the same with less people around you, stay at Jungle Tree.
Both stays provide you good food, music and night life.
Things to try:
