With our love for off-the-beaten-track destinations, we couldn't resist the allure of Chug Valley and set off to explore its wonders.

As soon as we arrived, we were blown away by the sheer beauty of the place. The scenery was like something out of a postcard—majestic Himalayan peaks in the background, a crystal-clear mountain river flowing through the valley, and stunning vistas everywhere we looked. It was a feast for the eyes and a reminder of nature's wonders.

Chug valley or Dirang – Where to stay?

As I ventured into the valley, I was immediately captivated by its stunning beauty. The landscape unfolded with lush green hills, vast meadows, and towering pine trees. I was greeted by the sight of shepherds guiding their flocks and cows leisurely grazing. It felt like stepping into a fairytale realm, a place so enchanting that I wished I could stay forever.

Chug Valley is like a hidden gem, where simplicity and authenticity prevail. When I arrived in the village, I was instantly charmed by its beauty. The cozy guesthouses, charming little restaurants, and adorable shops added to its unique appeal. The locals greeted me with warm smiles, making me feel like part of their tight-knit community.

Nature embraced the valley in its purest form, with untouched landscapes and a peaceful atmosphere. The surroundings were so serene that I couldn't help but feel at peace. Life in Chug Valley moved at a gentle pace, allowing for meaningful conversations, and fostering genuine connections.

One thing that amazed me was the limited phone and internet services. It was like a digital detox that helped me disconnect from the outside world and fully appreciate the beauty around me. Without constant distractions, I could immerse myself in the tranquility of the valley and truly embrace the present moment.

Where is Chug Valley?

To reach this tranquil haven, you can opt for a convenient cab or sumo ride, making your journey hassle-free.

The picturesque Chug Valley is in the Dirang region of Arunachal Pradesh. It's located around 24 kilometres to the west of Bomdila, the district headquarters. Our adventure began with an 8-kilometer ride from Dirang, immersing us in the picturesque landscapes of the region.

Our Experience at Chug Valley

The weather was a bit gloomy when we started from Dirang, and it was exasperating that it had been raining since we arrived in Arunachal Pradesh. As it was monsoon season, so we were prepared for this weather. We wanted to explore Arunachal Pradesh during the monsoon season; we have been here during the spring, autumn, and winter.

From Dirang to Chug Valley, the roads are surrounded by tall mountains and dense forests. Towering cedars, pines, and oaks kept us company along the way. It started raining heavily when we arrived in Chug Valley, so we took a stop at a cozy homestay. The homestay offered breathtaking views of the valleys and mountains. We took a moment to explore the property, they even had a campsite for those who love camping. To warm ourselves up, we enjoyed a delicious bowl of Maggi. During our meal, a girl approached us and struck up a conversation, sharing valuable insights about the hidden gems around Chug Valley.

How to reach Chug Valley, Arunachal Pradesh?

The Chug Valley is breath-taking, adorned with charming river bridges and picturesque paddy fields.

By Air: To reach the captivating Chug Valley, you can opt for air travel to the well-connected Guwahati airport, which offers frequent flights from major cities across the country. From Guwahati, you can continue your journey to the enchanting Chug Valley.

By Train: If you prefer train travel, the nearest railway station to Chug Valley is Majbat, located approximately 124 km away. Alternatively, you can explore train connections to Guwahati Railway Station or the local Dhekiajili Road Railway Station. Trains like Intercity Exp or Indica offer direct routes from Guwahati to Majbat, with a travel time of approximately 3 hours. Another option is to travel from Tezpur, which boasts regular train services to Dirang.

By Road: Chug Valley is best accessed by road, with bus transportation being the most convenient option. Chug Valley can also be conveniently reached by hiring a cab or opting for shared taxis from Guwahati. This allows for a more personalized and flexible travel experience, with the freedom to explore at your own pace. The temperatures during these periods are comfortable, perfect for sightseeing and immersing oneself in the surroundings.
