First and foremost, before starting I must thank Moustache Escapes for the most epic Holi experience ever last year. If anyone is looking to book a Kasol Holi bus trip through them, click here. Trust me, the experience in exquisite.
NOW LET'S BEGIN
You must've played Holi near a pool or pond but how about next to a flowing river? That's what got me really intrigued. Once I'm curious, I'm there! As is it the Holi Pushkar plan was in the dumps since that got cancelled.
The 3 days 2 nights trip started right from Delhi - convenient! The bus was vibing as soon as I entered it. I MEAN IT WAS THUMPING BEATS! "Ye bhi sahi hai!" I thought to myself.
I found myself a cozy seat and plopped down, looking out and waiting for mountains to appear. I hadn't imagined Holi and Kasol together yet - I wasn't ready for what was coming (clearly).
Kasol rolls around and it's time to get down. To my surprise - the place wasn't half bad. it was quiet beautiful actually. I know what I came in expecting but I was a little shook. This place was kind of pretty! Check out these pictures.
I was instantly relieved when I saw the setting. We were asked to go see our sleeping spots and - no wait you need to see mages of the sleeping arrangement cuz I CAN'T EVEN...
Soon after we picked a bed, we were summoned outside by Moustache's crew. And let me tell you - they're the most endearing bunch of people you'll ever meet. I had no idea that a Trek to Chalal was complimentary - I was thrilled. The 2 hour trek was so beautiful. The Village ever so enchanting that coming back was difficult. (okay I will forced back)
It wasn't all sad though. When back we were asked to join the already blasting DJ party and well, I'm not one to say no. I was off dancing by the river and I most honestly lost myself in the moment.
The next morning I woke up to the smell of hot breakfast, AH! That's the life. I took the morning time to explore Kasol but the evening stole the show. The Holika Dehan celebration was full of life and some more dance!
The next day I woke up to thumping music. Holi party was in full acceleration and it looked like people were ready for me to arrive because all of them threw bricks of colors at my face as soon as I got out -ambushing me.
I was quick to respond and ran to the gulal stand and got me some own colour to pain people with. within minutes, I was lost in the moment again, giving in to the magic of Holi. The riverside holi experience is something I'll never forget.
I'm dying to go again this year, hope to see you there!
