Kerala is the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram, located on the southwestern coast of India. Kerala is also called God's own country, but why?

Kerala is famous for many things like its culture, food lush forests, beaches, and many more things. It is also one of those states where you will get everything from mountains covered in tea plantation to beautiful backwater to relaxing beaches.

1. Kerala’s Culture

For us people in the north, the culture in Kerala is totally different. I still remember when I first time arrived in Kerala I was totally amazed at how different things were in Kerala. For example, food that is served to you is always on a banana leaf which we never see in the north. Also, the people there feel so different from us, the clothes they wear the way they talk and how they carry themselves. I also saw some videos of the festivals that I could not see by myself, unfortunately.

2. Food

For me, the food of a place is the soul of that place. Every place has its own cuisine that describes it like in the north we have Chole Bhature in Punjab, Mughlai in Delhi region Pav bhaji in Mumbai, Kebabs in Lucknow, etc. Thalassery biryani is an ethnic cuisine, other dishes like kadala, payasam, payar pappadam, appam, chicken curry, beef fry, egg masala, and fish curry are a major part of Keralan Cuisine. Rice is a Dominant part of Keralan culture.

3. Munnar

Tea Plantations in Munnar

If you love tea and mountains, Munnar is the place for you. Just imagine lush green mountains covered with tea plantations in every direction you could possibly see. Especially in monsoons when the greenery is more prominent here. (Don’t forget to bring an umbrella or a raincoat). If you want beautiful views, visit the plantations during sunset or sunrise.

Allepey is also called the Venice of India. It is famous for its backwaters and houseboats. Just go there and stay in a houseboat overnight and take a kayak for the narrow backwaters.
