It is full justice to this place when your Mobile Data stops working and your Smartphones show "No Service". This magnificent region demands your full attention and rightly so. Though any amount of words wouldn't be enough for Leh & Ladakh , Here's just a little tempting to make you land in this heavenly abode!
Every curve we took welcomed us with a picturesque view and I just wished my eyes could capture what I could see. Me and my friends planned an eight day trip to this miraculous destination and here's how :
Day 1 : Our trip like the destination started off adventurous with all of us missing our flights and taking the next one. We landed at the Leh Airport at around 12pm. First day commonly being the day of adapting to the oxygen levels and weather conditions. Took our stay and settled down at the Hotel Himalaya.
Day 2 : Visited the Shanthi Stupa wherein you can have a look at the entire Leh city. Also went to the Hall of Fame, Magnetic Hill, Sangam ( where Indus & Zanskar meet), Alchi Monastery & Gurudwara Pathar Saheb.
Day 3 & 4 : Leh- Khardungla Pass - Nubra - Diskit Monastery - Leh
The 150 kms stretch from Leh to Nubra Valley is every wanderer's delight. Crossing Khardungla Pass, highest motorable road to camping at Nubra Valley. Visited the Diskit Monastery and back to Leh on Day 4 . A path that makes the journey itself as the destination. We were amazed to see snow capped mountains on one hand and as we drove along only to find beautiful barren mountains with no vegetation and rode along further to witness sand dunes. This road itself is a miracle!
Day 5 & 6 : Leh - Chang La - Pangong Tso - Thikse Monastery - Leh
Again a 225 kms stretch that quenches the soul. Crossed Chang La Pass ( Second highest motorable road) straight to camping at the majestic Pangong Tso. The minute we reached there, we just stepped by the side of the lake only to listen to sound of water touching our feet. It was truly the closest I've ever been to nature. From witnessing the entire galaxy and billion stars to watching the colours of the clearest Lake change with positions of the Sun was one of the things I do before I die!
Day 7 & 8 : Leh - Kargil - Drass - Sonamarg - Srinagar - Delhi
Drove along the Leh - Srinagar Highway only to catch our flight back from Srinagar to Delhi on Day 8. You will find the mesmerising Suru river along the road. Had our stay at Sonamarg, the most green land I've ever come across. And on Day 8, We were back to our city only to realise that the air in Delhi is so polluted, we took another day acclimatise in our own land. ;)
