Day 1

The only Fort which we could think after Mrugagad was Sarasgad as this is easily accessible from Bheliv and we had bike to travel till the same. The distance from Bheliv to reach pali which is the base village to Sarasgad is approximately 25 kms and takes about 30-40 mins to reach by bike.  Sarasgad is at the height of 1600 feet from the sea level and takes maximum 1 hour 30 minutes from Pali to Summit. Basically this Fort was to keep watch on Pali and the nearby area during Maratha Regime.

If you are driving car you need to park it at the entrance as the concrete road ahead is narrow where only bike can reach. You can park your car in the temple carpark. From the Parking area itself the moderate climb begins until the base of the peak. Post the concrete road you enter the forest on the paved road for about 15 mins post which there is a gradual climb on the open surface.

From the base village if you see the Fort rather the peaks it is difficult to identify the route going on the top of Fort. The secreted steps carved in peak stone leads you to the Fort. The Fortification of Sarasgad is still intact at most of the places.
The Fort can be seen in two parts; one post reaching the Dindi Darwaja that is the first entrance you can take the traverse and watch the Caves and the Water cisterns . Some of which are filled with water and some are dried. Post taking the traverse you can then take a steep climb to reach the topmost part of the Fort which houses a Temple, Darga and a water pond. It takes about one hour to explore the entire Fort.

From the Fort, one can see the Pali Village, Temple, Korigad and Amba River flowing in this region from the summit.

Total time taken to explore the peak was about 30-40mins. The beauty of fort makes to visit each every corner of the fort.
