How to Get to Puncak

Puncak is located about 100 km south of Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. There are several ways to get to Puncak from Jakarta and other nearby cities, such as Bandung, Bogor, and Sukabumi. Here are some of the most common options:

- By car: Driving to Puncak is the most convenient and flexible way to travel, as you can enjoy the scenic views along the way and stop at any attractions you like. However, be prepared for heavy traffic, especially on weekends and holidays, as Puncak is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The journey can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours, depending on the traffic and the route you take. You can rent a car from Jakarta or other cities, or hire a driver to take you to Puncak.

- By bus: Taking a bus to Puncak is a cheaper and more eco-friendly alternative to driving, but it can also be less comfortable and reliable. There are several bus companies that operate from Jakarta and other cities to Puncak, such as X-Trans, Cipaganti, and Baraya. The bus fare ranges from 50,000 to 100,000 IDR (3.5 to 7 USD) per person, depending on the company and the destination. The bus ride can take 3 to 5 hours, depending on the traffic and the number of stops. You can book your bus tickets online or at the bus terminals.

- By train: Taking a train to Puncak is another option, but it is not very common, as there is no direct train service to Puncak. You will need to take a train from Jakarta or other cities to Bogor, and then take a taxi, a bus, or a motorcycle taxi (ojek) to Puncak. The train fare ranges from 10,000 to 50,000 IDR (0.7 to 3.5 USD) per person, depending on the class and the destination. The train ride can take 1 to 2 hours, depending on the schedule and the type of train. You can book your train tickets online or at the train stations.

The best time to go to Puncak is during the dry season, which lasts from May to September. During this time, the weather is sunny and pleasant, and the views are clear and stunning. However, this is also the peak season, so expect higher prices and more crowds. If you want to avoid the crowds and enjoy lower prices, you can visit Puncak during the rainy season, which lasts from October to April. During this time, the weather is cooler and wetter, and the views are more misty and green. However, be prepared for occasional rain showers and landslides, and bring a raincoat and an umbrella.

Puncak Reviews

And here comes the last weekend of my business trip :P . And when my friends decided to stay back at the hotel or had plans for shopping, I decided to go paragliding. We managed to cover three places that day. First we did paragliding. According to the package, the charges for paragliding was IDR 550.000 per pax. That included equipment and transportation from the landing site back to the take off site after flying. There were some extra charges for Gopro video which was around IDR 200.000. Our flying duration was around 5 - 7 minutes only.
