Kashmir - The Narnia you wish to visit...

Photo of Kashmir - The Narnia you wish to visit... by Manish Raj Purohit

I still believe in paradise. But now at least I know it’s not some place you can look for because it’s not where you go. It’s how you feel for a moment in your life when you’re a part of something and if you find that moment, it lasts forever.

- Leonardo DiCaprio

I never understood what Leonardo meant when he said that statement, like, can there actually be a moment that can last forever.

The moment I heard this statement, I was in search of my paradise and I never found one until, I went to Kashmir and let me tell you I’m not calling this place a paradise just because it’s a beautiful place but its much more than that. The vibe there is just out of this world, the way locals greet you, the unreal views of Gulmarg, the greens of Pahalgam, the whites of Sonmarg, I can go on and on and on but still the words will fall short to describe this heavenly place.

But I will try my best to tempt you to visit this place or at least add this place in your bucket list.

SRINAGAR

whether you come via flight or train or bus, the first place you will visit is Srinagar.

According to me there is only one paradise like place in Srinagar and that is dal lake. It looks so beautiful with those colorful shikharas (boats) in water and mountains in the back, the views are so amazing. There are few water sports activities that you can try in dal lake.

Other than that, there are few Mughal gardens that you can visit and some temples too. For tourists these are good place but for travelers like me I go for some outstanding places only.

So, if you want to visit those gardens you can or you can just stroll on the roads of Srinagar and also get some rest because we are going to Gulmarg tomorrow morning.

GULMARG

Gulmarg – its really hard to describe this place, it’s so beautiful, unique and much more that I can’t even describe. You will have to visit this place to actually know what I’m talking about.

So, its 6 am and we are all set to go to Gulmarg. You can get shared taxis till Anantnag and then get another one to Gulmarg. Or you can book a cab for the whole day and go to Gulmarg.

For around INR 1700 you can go to the 2nd phase of Gulmarg using cable car.

You can learn some new snow activities here like skiing, snowboarding and can ride a snowmobile too.

PAHALGAM

This is my personal favorite place in Kashmir and that’s because of the locals. They were so welcoming and so helpful. It’s been more than a month since I visited Kashmir and I still talk to them almost every day, they are like my family now.

Other than that, the views, the valleys are so beautiful. I even trekked to tulyan lake and the moment I saw that blue magical lake I knew what Leonardo meant when he said that statement. That place was so unreal that even when my friends saw the video on my insta they were like its edited and it can’t be real and things like that.

Whenever you visit Kashmir in summer you must do the tulyan lake trek or any other lake trek, but the tulyan is the easy one.

You can even do the KGL trek (Kashmir great lakes trek). This is a long trek and can be completed in around 9 days. KGL is in my bucket list and will surely going to do it sometime.

SOME PLACES THAT YOU CAN VISIT IF YOU HAVE MORE TIME: -

1 – Aharbal waterfall

2 – Siar baba temple waterfall

3 – Warwan valley

4 – Gurez valley

5 – Kargil

That was it, thank you for reading my blog. And hope I tempted you enough to make you visit Kashmir.

Have a happy journey :)
