Our first destination is Shravanabelagola which was 145 kms from Bangalore. We took NH75 and reached Shravanabelagola by the night 11 PM. We called Hotel Raghu which is the only lodge in that provide accommodation in that village for our night stay. We have a plan to visit the Bahubali statue in that village.

Total Distance Covered: 145 kms

Day 2:

Our day started with a Vindyagiri peak trek on which the monolithic statue of Lord Gomateshwara, one of the Jain thirankaras was situated. I would suggest to ascend this hill in the early hours before sunrise or during the sunset. After spending some time on the hill top, we descended and had breakfast in the same hotel we stayed. The breakfast was very delicious with reasonable cost. We checked out from the hotel and resumed our trip at 08:30 AM to our next destination Sakleshpur.

We had a plan to visit Manjarabad fort which was located on our way to Mangalore. A Star Shaped fort located at an elevation of more than 900 meters and can be reached by the steps[around 200-250 steps]. After climbing the steps, one can see beautifull hills surrounded to the fort. Since visited on a weekend, there are lot of visitors and it is hard to find parking. After spending some, we resumed our journey towards Mangalore through of the beautiful ghat roads of Western ghats Shiradi Ghat. We descended the ghat and reached Mangalore by 06:00 PM in the evening.

We booked our stay at Hotel Hanuman[Bhavanthi Street] which was located in the heart of the city. It was a very decent hotel for budget travellers including families. We freshen up and decided to visit Pabbas Icecream shop and had some ice cream. I would suggest to avoid dining here during weekends. We came back to our stay and ordered food online. The Mangalorean dishes were very tasty and one can taste the Chicken Ghee roast which is one of the main dishes in Mangalorean cuisine.
