In this series of "Photographer's Quick Guide", I offer my learnings from shooting a place from a travel photographer's perspective.

In here I brief about planning, photo hot spots (and unique ones too), timings and tips about shooting at these destinations in a bid to help the travel photography community.

This one features - Gokarna, the quaint gem from coastal Karnataka.

1. Kudle Beach

Most accessible and famous beach hosting myriad beach side properties and food joints.

Best Times : Mornings and Evenings both

Photo Tips :

- Use a tripod and ND filters for slow shutter frames

- Morning reflections during low tide

- Explore both ends of the beach (Shiva and Parvati rocks especially)

2. Om Beach

The iconic beach from the area with it's beachline resembling the "Om" shape.

Best Times : Mornings and Evenings both

- Use a tripod and ND filters for slow shutter frames

- Use moss as element, during post monsoon season

- Explore both ends of the beach (Shiva and Parvati rocks especially)

3. Half Moon Beach Area

A relatively secluded beach area with lots of sea stacks and formations.

Best Times : Mornings and Evenings both

Photo Tips :

- Use a tripod and ND filters for slow shutter frames

- Use moss as element, during post monsoon season

4. Kumta Area

About 30Kms north of Gokarna. You can visit Mirjan and Kagal forts as well.

5. The Town Outskirts

Especially the temple town, salt pans nearby and paddy fields.

Best Times : Mornings

- Hire a rickshaw and move around

- Carry a tripod and ND filters for some slow shutter experiments
