Neelakurinji Blooms. Is it the next wave or is it the end?

We've seen that Mandalapatti and Kote Betta in Coorg have seen the wave in August and its over now.

I happened to see the Neelakurinji blooms in small patches on a hill hike in Chikmagalur. I saw it while hiking in Seetalayanagiri and Mullayanagiri on Sunday. It's yet to be as big as Coorg though

Day 1

Where to find the blooms?

Spot-1 On the hill besides the Seetalayanagiri parking, if you walk up you will see spots or minor shades of the Neelakurinji flower

Spot-2 You need to leave the highway road midway to Mullyangiri and take a right into the hill path. You have a few small patches there

Spot-3 Some spots facing the Mullayanagiri hill, on the sloping grassbanks also have this flower

Will the Blooms come up in this area?

Apparently Babu Budangiri had a full bloom in 2006 and due to a forest fire in 2018, the blooms did not happen. Since sighting the blooms last weekend, the locals seem to be hopeful of a full bloom (Bangalore Mirror-28 Sep 2021)

So are we about to hit a full bloom or is it like a 'passing shower'? Hope to see more reports before going there again.

The kids had a lovely time smelling and being around the blooms and hiking the hills, getting lost in the intense fog that suddenly envelops

To know the place, the hike route and how we got here, do check the vlog. It's a great activity to take the kids and let them experience nature (for parents)
