Savandurga Hill, crowned by the majestic peaks of Karigudda and Biligudda. Rising to a breathtaking 1,200 meters, Karigudda is a testament to the forces of ancient volcanic activity that sculpted this natural wonder.

But what gives this fortress of time its mystical allure? It's none other than its intriguing moniker – the "Fort of Death."

Our adventure kicked off in Savandurga village at the crack of dawn, around 7 AM – a thrilling start to our trekking escapade. Right from the get-go, the slope hinted that this journey wouldn't be a walk in the park. Undeterred, our dynamic duo pressed on, reaching the fort's foothills just 20 minutes into the trek. A pitstop at a vendor's spot offered a chance to refuel with some water and crisp cucumber, providing a refreshing pause before the real challenge.

As we advanced, the trail got tougher, leading us to the steepest slope where even the bravest took a breather. Some decided to turn back, succumbing to fear, while others strategically scaled the rocks to catch their breath. Summoning my inner daredevil, I conquered the challenge and urged my friend to follow suit. Scaling the second wall of the fort revealed a surprising twist – the first mountain was conquered, but the trek continued for another exhilarating 20 minutes.

Shifting gears to the second hill, a higher one connected by caves and charming valleys, our excitement reached new heights. After conquering the valley, we ascended the hill, and reaching the summit was nothing short of a divine experience. The air was cool, chanting 'OM' felt transcendent, and calling out names in the valley added a touch of adventure. Capturing the moment with photographs, it felt like I was soaring above the world. Amidst this magical setting, I even encountered a carefree goat enjoying the breathtaking views of the valley and Manchanbele Reservoir – truly a taste of heaven on earth.

That's the peak.
