As you all know last year been the year of desperation for all of us , especially for people like me who love to travel a lot while I get a day off.
So now that the tourism industry in open I decided to take a leap, with the corona situation and travel to Alleppey (Venice of the East in Kerala) with my family . Booking Houseboats in Alleppey is lot easier now a days and we were happy with what we chose.
Wanting to explore the house boat cruise through the picturesque Vembanad Lake we took a 3 bedroom luxury house boat for an over night stay.
We reached there by 11.30 a.m. as the check in time was at 12 noon. We were served with welcome drink by the delightful crew. We started cruising by the scheduled time amidst of the scorching sun house boats thatched roof and the soothing wind from the lake made the cruising delightful. Interior of the boat was well maintained and neat and top it sanitized when we arrived in the deck. Even our bags were sanitized before boarding the boat.

By half past one we halted near a lush green paddy field to have the lunch which is cooked in the house boat by crew itself . The menu was mouth watering with traditional brown rice and a wide range of sea food and non veg varieties.
After the heavy scrumptious meal we again started drifting through the lake where we could see the harmonious co existence of human and nature through out the banks of the lake. People make their living by fishing in the lake and agriculture, poultry farming especially ducks . This place has been the nerve of coir industry and well acclaimed across the globe for its quality products.
The gentle breeze would make you sleepy but since we are out to enjoy the ecstatic view of Vembanad we all were up. Later in the evening we were served with tea and and some light snacks.
The night was peaceful ,dinner menu again surprised our taste buds and crew walked us through the history of the house boat and town.
Morning was fresh and totally a moment to capture and mean time we were heading back to the port as the check out time was 9.a.m. So narrow backwaters throwed some light on the morning chores of the people in the bank.
The trip was totally worth it as the we were locked up inside the house, some fresh air can do wonders to our mind and body. If you are planning a trip for yourself keep in mind the COVID'19 guidelines issued by the Govt of India. If you took a trip like this do comment below.
