On Dec 31st, 2019 one of my friends and I decided to go to Pune to celebrate the new year. This time we had planned to go to places where you can visit while going to Pune from Mumbai. We took the old Mumbai-Pune highway. We started early in the morning around 7 am. and took almost 8 hours to reach Pune. This is not due to traffic or rush but we were shooting the vlog.

Route: Mumbai - Panvel - Khopoli - Khandala - Lonavala - Pune

Below are the places you can visit if you are going to Pune from Mumbai:

Day 1

1. Panvel

Start your trips as early as possible so that you can avoid traffic and rush hours especially if you are living in Mumbai. Keeping this in mind we started at 7 am. I know it is a bit late but we really did not come across much of a traffic.

Our first stop was Panvel, as we departed early morning we started starving on the way. We stopped by a local breakfast joint which serves dosa, idli, poha and wada pav.

2. Morbe Dam:

If you are travelling from Mumbai to Pune you will come across this amazing Morbe Dam. It was calm and peaceful. We did stop for half an hour and departed for our next location. It is located near to Chawk on the old Mumbai-Pune highway. Also, if you like trekking you can go to Irshalgad which is nearest to Morbe dam.

3. Actual Model of Abandoned Aeroplane:

It is one of the locations which is quite hard to find and it can be missed if you don't know the location. Is is located in Khalapur, in Khopoli. This place can be enjoyed with friends but you have to ask for permissions from the guard. Also, this location is good for shoots for pre wedding or making Tik Tok videos.

No! I'm not joking.

4. Rajmachi Garden Khandala:

This is really an interesting spot from where you can witness the amazing beauty of nature and Pune-Mumbai expressway. The garden is not well maintained but there are few swings which you can enjoy.

5. Wax Museum - Lonavala

Another spot where you can take your kids if you are parents. They have wax statues of celebrities and famous people around the globe (not everyone). This is optional but you can have quality time with your friends and family.

6. Birla Ganpati Temple:

While travelling from Pune to Mumbai or vice versa from old highway you can not afford to miss this temple. It is one of the unique temples near Pune which made out of cement iron and copper.

The interesting fact about the Birla Ganpati temple:

° Height of the statue is 72 feet

° Weight is about 1000 tonnes or 1000000 kg.

° Made of cement, steel and coated with copper.

This was our last spot for the day and from there we directly went to Pune. There are other places too where you can visit and spent time. These are the places where people can actually visit and return on the same day.

Do let me know if you know any other place in the comment section.

Do not forget to watch this video for real time experience.
