NYC!!! *Sigh... It's every single person's dream to stand right at the middle of Times Square, to feel all the butterflies looking at the skyscrapers, to travel in the subways, to gaze at the architectural beauty of the Grand Central, to see the statue of liberty up close, just to get blown away by the history and to smell all kinds of cuisine on the streets... Yes that's New York. Yes! That's the dream. And Yes!!! It's not a place for a one time visit.
New York is one of the most complex city in its own simpler way. There are so many things to see, so many things to do that we had a hard time adding and omitting the places we wanted to see.
Let's begin with my favorite, the first destination in NYC:
Before getting into the places to visit, let me give you a brief on how we managed to travel from the airport to the city by using the cheapest means of transportation.
- landed at JFK and took an Airtrain to the Jamaica station. So, they charge for the airtrain when you get down at the Jamaica station but not before that.
- Jamaica station is a Subway station which will take to your destination and ours was Manhattan 34th street. (Including the airtrain +subway it charges us around 10$)
- let me give you a tip...NYC subways are the cheapest yet pretty confusing so don't shy away to ask around. The people over there are very much helpful.
- once you get out of the subway...the next cheapest thing to do is WALK. Anyway it's the best way to explore a place as well.
So, once we reached Manhattan we freshened up and went for a walk to see the most talked about THE Times Square.
It is something you should see atleast once in your lifetime. The busy roads, the huge LED screens, the crowd everything made it so special.
We covered the Bryant park which is like right next to the Times Square and we reached our next stop that was the Grand Central Station.
PS: Don't forget to try the hotdogs. *Obviously
Our second day started with the really memorable visit to the Madame Tussauds wax museum. Although it's not the best one in the world it was an amazing experience.
For the best skyscraper view, you should either head to the iconic Empire State or the Top of the rock. Best part was that Jimmy Fallon's set was in the same building (WHAT!!!!). We ditched Empire State and went to the top of the rock( I know!!!) But trust me it was worth the view...and you could the the iconic building itslef from here.
Well, day 2 was more like a shopping day for us...and do check out Macy's, primark, target, Walmart for the cheapest buys.
We were really excited for this day as it was the Statue of Liberty day!!!! It was seriously a dream come true as I have always dreamt about it whenever I saw it in the movies. It was a pinch me pls moment for me!!! *Too much? May be not.
The ferry ride upto the statue and all the history related to it is so interesting that I fell in love with it even more.
After the beautiful tour, we visited the world trade memorial, wall street and ended the day at Chipotle (lovely Mexican dinner)
Our last day in NYC was another interesting visit to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space museum. It was so exciting to see the flights, ships, submarines and actually experiencing a force simulator.
After this, we went to explore the greenest part of the city- The Central Park. It is a lovely place for fresh air and brings so much joy to see the place so lively.
When in New York, how can you miss The Friends Building (The Show). It was such a surreal experience.
PS: Must try- Max Brenner Chocolate Bar. They have the most yummiest and the fanciest menu. Best goodbye to the most memorable trip.
That's it for now.... until next time NYC.
