The one image that comes to mind when I think of Hong Kong, are the junk boats with their characteristic red sails. And the Hong Kong skyline picture below, in this aspect is complete with the junk boat.
Hello and welcome if you are new to my travelogue or welcome back if you have been following the updates.
We were gathered with the rest of the crowd on the platform at the Tsim Sha Tsui promenade to catch the Symphony of Lights show at 8:00 pm. It is often touted as a must see spectacle and we had high hopes.
Promptly at 8:00 pm the music began and the green laser light started beaming out from the roof top of the skyscrapers. The music was low in tempo, the laser light had a rhythm of its own, there was no co-ordination between the light and music…… is this it? The whole show was a let down, it is very hyped and overstated.
The view of the lighted skyscrapers is a treat to behold, but the Symphony of Lights show is not worth the wait. So…been there, done that.
We then proceed for dinner and walk to the Silvercord Mall on Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui; a 20 minute walk. We hope to get a table at the restaurant called Din Tai Fung. It’s a Taiwan based restaurant chain. There was a short wait, but we were promptly seated. We had the Egg fried rice with shrimps and shredded pork, the Steamed Chicken dumplings and a Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup. The fried rice and the dumplings were good, but the broth in the soup was bland for our palette.
Post dinner, we walk back to our hotel in the drizzle. In the past 24 hours, we have journeyed on a plane, a bus, a boat and not to forget the taxi.
