Tarsar Lake

Pranav Harish
After crossing Shekwas, the trail climbs uphill and then eventually gives a glimpse of Tarsar which is such an influx of adrenaline it makes you run towards the Tarsar lake and set a tent right next to the luscious lake. The blue waters surrounded by the impressive mountains make it the ultimate paradise.

The Tarsar and Marsar lakes justify Kashmir being called as jannat. Located at a maximum altitude of 13,500 feet they are only accessible by trek. Just looking at the lakes in between the velvety grassland of Kashmir feels like a dream. You have to trek through beautiful meadows, pine tree forests and multiple hamlets for seven days to reach the heavenly glacial lakes. The grade of trekking is moderate to difficult but as the famous saying goes, "The best view comes only after the hardest climb". The trek begins from Aru and ends at Aru.
