Kudala Sangama

Kudalanatha Sangamanatha temple is in the Bagalkot District and is the most important temple for those who belong to the Lingayat faith. There is the samadhi of the holy saint Basavanna out here along with a Shiva Linga which is self manifested. It is said that in the ancient times Lord Sarangamath started an educational institution here and Lord Basaveshwara, Channabasavanna and Akkanagamma were the students and later became gods of this place. The rivers Krishna and Malaprabha also merge here to pass through Srisaila Temple and the primary deity of this temple, Sangamanatha is actually a form of Lord Shiva. The other deities placed here are of Lord Basaveshwara with his consort Goddess Neelamma, Lord Ganpathy and nandi, the mount of Lord Shiva. The sanctum sanctorum is carved with rich motifs of animals and there is also a huge music room and auditorium in the tem[ple complex only.

We then decided to head back home but took a stop at Kudala Sangam, which happens to be the point where three rivers merge and also where the body of Basavanna. His samadhi is here, in the river so they have built a structure which takes you down to the base of the river (near its banks) to a meditation room. When we were here it started raining and you realise how weak you are in front of nature. We could feel the wind push us away when we standing on the tower top. After waiting for it to calm down we left and finally by 8 in the night we were back home. The final morning we just walked around in our village, explored their hills and valleys, drove to  Jhamkandi, did some local shopping, visited the local palace and by 6 in the evening we were on our bus back.

We planned our stay at kudalsangam in sangeshwara temple's dharam peet. As of no direct bus was available so we went to hundgund from ameenabad 30rs And for hundgund to kudalsangam 30rs (any bus going towards bijapur). You will reach a junction of kudalsangam for where the temple is about 1.5 km away and the Dharam peet is like 15 mins walk away just ask any local person for dharam peet. A room at dharam peet was for 300rs(for both of us) it was a hostel type place where free dinner was provided which we had and went to our room and rested.
