Nahargarh Fort is one of the tourist attraction places in Jaipur ,Rajasthan .It was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh in 1734.It was named earlier as Sudarshangarh, but later on known as Nahargarh means " home for tigers".

I recently got a chance to visit this ancient historical fort on 23rd January,2021 in Covid. I boarded a cab from one of local tour operators in Jaipur which costed me Rs 1000 for my visit to Nahargarh to and fro.

I highly recommend to visit this place either in winters or in the rainy seasons as it will not only be comfortable but will also more beauty to this beautiful fort.

The entry ticket is Rs 50/- per person for Indian tourists. The cab will take you to the entry point of Nahargarh Fort ,which is at a high altitude ,so if you are travelling on your own ,I recommend to go by car or bike since the area is at quite an altitude.

The timing is from 10 am to 10 pm ,which can vary to the ongoing Covid situations. We entered the fort at 10:00 am and due to the Covid there were less tourists .

So as we entered there on the right side was a view point which we covered later on the return journey ,going ahead there were canals and the water purify system which itself is incredible in that time manually created .There is a small temple also besides it .

Next to the left ,is the actual entry of the Nahargarh Fort. The fort consists of 9 identical palaces constructed in the same way for his 9 queens .There is a gateway which is a secret entry ,consisting of a narrow lane for the king so that he can visit any of his queen ,with queens not knowing about it ( Its the story which the guide told me ).

So the inside view of the fort is having different floors but identical structure created for winter and summer season .

Once you reached the top of the fort ,you will see the spectacular view of the whole city Jaipur .From the top ,the whole city is visible and its such a beautiful view. I was able to highlight some of the places of Jaipur .

There is a temple also in the fort which you can visit once you return from the fort which was built in the memory of Nahar Singh Bhomia. It is believed that the spirit of him haunted the place and obstructed the construction of the fort.

So we covered the view point also during our return from the fort. Other place was the Sheesh Mahal in the Nahargarh fort ,which one should never miss and forget to visit .

You can explore the night view of Jaipur ,by staying in the fort till 10 pm. As I have heard night view is really beautiful compared to the day view .

I will be covering my travelling experience about Sheesh Mahal in my next blog .

So here are some tips for the first time tourists to Nahargarh Fort.

1) Preferably visit the fort in rainy season or winters since its quite hot in Jaipur in summers.

2) Travel by car or bike ,avoid doing rash driving .

3) While going to the high altitude ,don't stop in between since you can get attacked by animals .

4) Please carry ID Proof's ,hand sanitizers and wear masks.

5) Guides are comparatively cheaper so you can easily get one for Rs 20 which I have also taken.

6) Wear comfortable shoes or footwears ,as you need to walk around 1-2 km after you have reached the entrance of the fort .
