We took flight from Kolkata to for Siem-Reap. Siem-Reap is cheaper than Phnom-Penh and also very quite. So, one can get on arrival visa very easily and avoiding a long que. We reached Siem-Reap at around 11 and as we were tired from the night journey, we took rest for around 3 hours in our hotel.
At around 2 pm, we left our hotel in tuk-tuk and visited two places:
1. Siem Reap Museum (Costs $10 per person)
2. War museum (Costs $5 per person)
Cambodia is quite cheap for food and accommodation. Also, the tuk-tuk ride.
In the evening time, we visited night market of Siem Reap.
On the second day, we planned to leave early in the morning for Angkor Wat to see the sunrise, but we couldn't because of rain. The tickets counter opens at 5 am in the morning. We left at 7 and reached Angkor Wat at around 8 am. The ticket costs $30 for Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom.
One can cover both in one day (it requires a lot of walking).
Enjoy sunset at Phonm Bakheng.
We returned in evening and then we enjoyed a must to be seen show The Phare.
At day 3, we left for Phnom Penh with the bus service. The Buses are quite comfortable and it takes around 6 hours to reach Phnom Penh which you will not feel at all. It costs between $10-12 for the bus ticket.
In Phnom Penh, one should book a hotel/hostel close to the Royal Palace (like we did). So that you can a take a riverside walk whenever you like.
Must visit places include:
Genocide Museum, Royal Palace and State Museum.
One can enjoy the city ride with Casinos on the street side.
