Day 1

Towering over the village of Dalapchand is the scenically beautiful hilltop destination known as Mankhim. Located near to the popular tourist hot spot known as Aritar, this pristine land mass offers tourists with a vantage point to take in some of the most breathtaking sights and sounds of the region. The hilltop looms large over the Lampokhri Lake, giving sightseers a bedazzling view of its emerald green waters. Mankhim also provides onlookers with a spectacular view of Mt. Kanchenjungha. The panoramic spectacle of the mountains is interspersed with a monastery and a small temple aloft the hilltop, which make for a tranquil retreat from the ensuing din of city life in the plains far below. Go paddle boating across the placid waters of the Lampokhri lake, or watch exotic birds as you take a hike along the picturesque mountain trail. With so much and more to offer the family tourist, it is no surprise that Mankhim is an idyllic hilltop destination beckoning to be savored.

Day 2

The next day we were ready to leave for Lungthung,14km from Zuluk.

The village of Lunghthung-Dhupidara located at almost 11,500 feet is perched on a hilltop with panoramic views of Mt. Kanchenjungha on one side and the winding roads of Zuluk on the other. Thambi View Point which offers a great bird’s eye view of Mt. Kanchenjungha and the whole of Eastern Himalayas is within a kilometre of Lunthung–Dhupidara viLungthung Homestay accommodations are the only options at Lungthung and trust me it’s better than any 7Star hotel.

The next day we were not allowed to go higher by the Indian Army because of the closed road so we had to go down to Padamchen.

So just for some adventure we decided not to go down by car but take a walk down.

So we walked down for 14kms until we reached our destination.

Day 3

Padamchen

Perched on a hill slope at 8000 ft and covered in dense forests, Padamchen is a small village on the Silk Route circuit just 14 kms from Rongli and 4 kms from Zuluk. Padamchen experiences a very pleasant weather throughout the year and this is one of the main reasons for its popularity. If you are not used to biting cold and snowfall but want to experience the mesmerizing sunrise, excellent views and winding roads and valleys of this Silk Route circuit, Padamchen has some of the best views of the valleys and forests of this part of Sikkim and Himalayan foothills.

There was nothing much to do in Padamchen so we took the day off and rested.

The next day was the last day of our trip and probably the best day of our wanderlusting,we left early from Padamchen and descend down to Doban.

In Doban, you fall asleep to the sound of the lapping waters and wake up to the call of unknown birds. Here, you can catch fish on the fast moving waters or simply trek along the river keeping to the forest’s edge.
