Top Places To Visit in Mima 21 Spots

Tucked away behind the Japfu Range in Nagaland, the Dzuko or Dzukou Valley is just about 3 km from the city of Kohima. This is a place where tourists mostly come for trekking and other adventure sports. This is a charming flower valley where you will find blooming so many types of exotic wildflowers in all different colours. There are also waterfalls which increase the beauty of the place and are said to freeze during heavy winters. The place is at an altitude of about 2480 m above the sea level and are surrounded by other hills, caves and rocks. Apart from just trekking, this p;ace is rich in bio- diversity and thus is like paradise for photographers, nature and peace lovers alike. Camping is also a very good option here given the presence of rocky caves and geological formations. This place is absolutely adventure at its best and when in Nagaland, this should definitely be a priority in your itinerary list.

Kisama, Kohima
This is a village and an open museum off the Imphal Road about 10 kilomteres from the Central part of Kohima. Here you will be able to experience the authentic living styles of the Nagas. The place is a Heritage Village since they have successfully preserved the joy of simple living of the tribals in one place. There are number of Naga traditional houses here along with some bachelor dormitories which are locally known as morungs. The most important fact about the Kisama Heritage Village is that the largest Naga Festiva, The Hornbill Festival is celebrated here. This is a week long festival which is celebrated every year from the 1st to 7th of December. Tourists come here to watch tribal people gather together and enjoying their singing, dancing and sports. Most of the people who come here are in their traditional warrior attires. The Kohima Rock Festival is also celebrated in this village.

Meghalaya’s capital, Shillong is quaint hill-station flanked by pine forests and a few hundred waterfalls scattered across the charming landscape. Dec 8th: Arrive in Dimapur airport and head to Kohima ( 2 -3 hour drive) Check in at Mima village guest house, approximately 2.5 hours away. Take a short guided tour of the village. Meet one of the village elders in the evening for a story telling session of the village and the folk tales while sipping some local rice brew. Mima village is an Angami tribe village and is close to the Hornbill venue. Mima is famous for its apiaries where the bees have their hive underground. Take part in cultural and traditional sports activities at Mima village each evening of your stay here. Get back in time from the Hornbill for dinner and these vigorous and fun activities.
