This place is in the Mid Sout Western part of Karnataka and is often known as the "Rice bowl of Karnataka". The present and official name is Sivamogga. The main attractions here are the Sacred Heart church, Sivappa Nayaka Palace, Abbe Falls, Achakanya Falls, Agumbe, Ambutheertha, Balligave, Bhadra Dam, Bhadravati River and others. This place has been ruled by a number of dynasties in the history. These include the Gangas, Hoysalas, Kedlas, Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas and many more.
