Hello, I recently visited kanheri caves which is located in sanjay gandhi national park Mumbai. 'Kanheri' word comes from sanskrit and it means black mountains. This site is on hillside and accessible via rock cut steps. Kanheri caves has 109 caves, carved from many big rocks.
Nearest local train station is borivali ,and you can get sharing auto and taxis from borivali station to sanjay gandhi national park then you will have to buy an entry ticket , after entering park you will find many of the taxis are ready to take you to the caves which is located on a distence of 7km. They charge inr 50 for per person and remember you will have to buy a separate ticket for your dslr (if you are carrying).
Kanheri caves is very peaceful place also you will find amezing landscapes over there , you can take amezing pictures of caves , in my opinion its like a paradise for nature lovers and landscape photography.
Just go there and have a peaceful day.
