Breaking ice from Sonbhadra

Tripoto
Certain places I’ve visited elicit an almost psychedelic experience that I crave. I remember approaching this spot around 5:30 PM. It was still pretty bright but the sun was starting to go down just a bit, allowing me to see the looming shadows of giant granite peaks. I was already exhausted because we were hiking in the afternoon with sweat and some cuts during the hike more over that the slope of the mountain kept on going up and I have a fear of height but in a way that was incredibly awe inspiring. I realised that my fear was really just excitement. Hair stand up on the back of your neck, pit in your stomach, heart racing anticipation. I can only explain it by the feeling that you have achieved something after climbing up the massive Markundi Ghati. It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.
