The City Beautiful
Serenity and a city are two diametrically opposite concepts, which however gets belied in the ''City Beautiful''. Chandigarh ias a rare epitome of modernization co-existing with nature's preservation.It is India's first planned city which was recently declared the smart city as well. People from all walks of life very harmoniously intermingle here. This city is highly spirited as well as full of warmth and welcoming. Chandigarh is located near the foothills of the Shivalik and thus enjoys a good climate throughout the year. The city is well planned and divided in sectors. There is a roudabout at every sector to disperse the traffic congestion. There are parks at every sector helping the citizens taking leisurely stroll and enjoying the evenings with their kids. The enriched eco-system attracts the migratory birds from Siberia and Japan during the winters,making Sukhna Lake birdwatchers' paradise.
The places of interest in this city are Sukhna Lake near the foothills of Shivalik rangess, Nek Chand Rock Garden, Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, Leisure Valley, Open Hand Monument. For shopping one can visit Sector 17 Plazza or for the bargainers Sector 22 Shastri market is quite famous. Do not miss the North Indian delicacies like aloo paratha with dahi, lassi, amritsari naan,chole bhature, butter paneer, sarson da saag.
After the city tour one can head towards the destinations like Morni Hills, Pinjore (Yadavindra Gardens), Kasauli, Solan or Shimla. Trust me,staying here for five years was blissful for me. The city has etched long lasting memory in my heart and the people whom I have met have become friends for a life time. Residing here has a privilege of its own.:)
