Mountains are a way of life, take it from a girl who breathed her first in the lap of Himalayas. For every once you have an experience of the abundant calm at the hills, you are bound to recuperate from city blues in no time. At the very least, add one jaunt to the mountains a year to your bucket of travels.
Ours was a weekend getaway to Chaukodi. I went with my amigos from school. Chaukodi is about 70kms from Pithoragarh {where I live}. A couple of us were hesitant since we had already been there. Nonetheless, we hopped on to our bikes and scooters and decided in a flicker of time that we've got to pack our bags and leave for some place. That someplace turned out to be a picturesque hill station set against the backdrop of the lofty peaks of western Himalayas.
We reached late at about 6 in the evening so we didn't have much to go sightseeing to. It was for the next day that we had to explore the quintessence of the nature around and about. However, our homestay was a place of great strategic location. The Panchachuli range is pretty much clearly visible, when the weather allows, and there's a helipad within the circumference of the stay. It goes by the name Aangan homestays. It dwells at the entrance of Chaukodi (Udiyari Bend).
When at Chaukodi, you can visit the nearby Nag Devta Mandir, Chineshwar waterfall, Berinag and Kalital waterfall. These are the scenic lures, close to the locale. If you decide to stay for little longer, you may make a visit to nearby places like Patal Bhuvaneshwar, Kausani, Bageshwar, Almora or just drop by at Pithoragarh and I'll be your humble guide :)
