If you just have a weekend to spend a memorable time with your loved one having exquisite dinner dates, exploring artistic forts, and devouring street food this will be your itinerary.

We began our journey towards Jaipur in the chilly morning of Gurugram railway station to board our train 12015 Delhi-Ajmer Shatabdi. The train was at 7:00 AM in the morning which reached Jaipur railway station on 10:45 AM.

Day 1

To roam around the colourful streets of Jaipur we decided it's best to rent a bike. I would recommend onnbikes for their cheap vehicles renting service on Jaipur. We picked our bike from new Aatish market metro station which is easily reachable from Jaipur junction with direct connection from Metro. After picking up our bike we headed towards our hotel near Jal Mahal which is closest to every tourist destination of pink city.

We both had one thing on our mind before we planned to come here is to have the famous Rajasthani thali. So, there is no other place to taste that authentic recipe other than Thali & More.

After having our stomach full we headed to explore some historical landmarks of Jaipur. First, we visited the Albert Hall Museum which is the oldest museum of the state Rajasthan with more than 3000 different artefacts. I would suggest to stay there till evening for the night light of the Museum or just taking a stroll around the front porch to enjoy the soothing sunset.

It is mandatory to explore the street markets of the Jaipur for its one of a kind textile work. In my opinion, it is best to bargain for more than 50% of the asking price because it is in the centre of the city with highly inflated prices. However, if you're just visiting for window shopping then it will definitely be a great experience. In addition to that, Jaipur becomes even more beautiful under lights with the feeling that you're back in time standing between those old architecture.

Finally, it was time for the royal dinner date at one of the most scenic forts Amer fort which has it's own dinner restaurant called 1135 AD. Although, it could be slight difficult to reach the restaurant at night if you have a bike due to dense forest enroute to the fort with not much visibility. So, it will be safe if you book a car for the entire duration with local or use a uber. We already had our table reservations for 8:00 PM and reached the destination with uber.

As we entered the fort at night the light show began which was an awstruck moment for both of us. Before the dinner itself our night became perfect with more to experience at the restaurant. The restaurant manager was kind enough to gave us a private table near the Maharaja's portrait. I would highly recommend to try their authentic Rajasthani recipes on their menu albeit every dish was as good as others. As the day was edging closer to the end we were just taking it all in as it was a once in a life time experience.

Day 2

Watching the sunrise in the morning was high on our bucket list with all these landmarks around the city. So, we headed towards the Jal Mahal which wass in a walking distance from our hotel.

Later, we visited the Nahargarh fort which sits on the edge of the Aravalli hills overlooking the entire Jaipur city. Also, the ride to reach the fort was also thrilling with captivating natural beauty, and curvy roads. Moreover, if you could visit early in the morning you can get even more mesmerising sunrise from the top of the hill.

A trip to Jaipur is incomplete if you haven't looked at the famous Hawa mahal which depicts this city resemblance.

Later, we also planned to visit the nearby attractions of Hawa Mahal like Jantar Mantar, and City palace but with limited time we went for food hopping. To satisfy our sweet tooth we had the special mawa halwa at famous LMB. Apart from that, we tried the local kachori, paneer jalebi, and samosa.

Afterwards, it was time to head back towards the Jaipur railway station to catch our Shatabdi express train back to Gurugram which was scheduled to leave at 5:00 PM. Initially, we dropped off our bike at the same place where we picked it up. Then we rushed to take the metro towards railway station with sunset upon us to wave a goodbye. Finally, we reached Gurugram at 9:30 PM on time which finished our two days excursion.

This trip is something I would definitely cherish for the years to come remembering the taste, and antiquity. Though, it could never be possible if she was not there to travel alongside me ❤️.
