on one fine day out of 7 days of "me time" in old manali, idea was to cycle from old manali to rohtang top and back (total about 110 km), though everything was going as planned however dragging bicycle for about 20 km was demanding but wonderland taken over by meters of snow and waterfalls here and there did not let me tired...
as i crossed gulaba (27 km from old manali) i saw a dog sitting on a vantage point, and was looking straight to me, though he did not bother but managed to call for an action...
soon as i saw a bericade half burried in snow and a shelter kind of structure taken over by snow, i realized that this is police post, meanwhile in response to dog, there came an authortative call somewhere from the post inquiring that if i have plans to go further... just because of the tone, i had to say no though i was convinced that i can manage this at least few more kilometres as it was just drizzling...
as i couldn't see anyone in that shelter, so started walking twords it and got to meet 5 people in that four room shelter made up of tin-sheds... while having a chat with them i was thinking how to get permission to go further as rohtang top was still about 20 km ahead... though very soon over a cup of tea offered by these gentlemen, i realized it's better to stay as it started raining heavily and i could see snowfall at higher altitudes... i stopped their for long enough and over back to back tea we all kept eating stories... i was one of the first visitors to this post in this season, so had enough stories to exchange...
this dog shown here is born at very same post 2-3 years back and rarely leaves the post... thought as usual just before winter and first snowfall people from post tried to shift him to safe place and as always he opted to stay ...
