Want to book a diving holiday in Indonesia? The Gili Islands are mini paradise slices and perfect for diving. Perhaps my diving experiences in the Gili Islands will motivate you to plan your own adventure in Indonesia.

I've been obsessed with diving since I did my PADI Open Water in Ko Tao back in 2017. When you're under water, the feeling of complete freedom and serenity is paradise to me, and I can't get enough of it. That's why I knew that for my recent trip to Indonesia, the Gilis was a must. I learned about Gili Trawangan's tiny island from a friend who had been staying there for six months working as a dive master. She had first-hand experience of brilliant diving in this field, and before I was persuaded I just needed to talk to her for five minutes.

Big Bubble Dive

She suggested that we go to Big Bubble Dive as the groups are small and the instructors are friendly as I was going with my sister and another friend, both of whom hadn't dived before. The islands of Gili are the perfect place for diving training. The environment is beautiful and comfortable, with plenty of different experience levels. You're also likely to see an enormous range of fish on each dive, and many of the dive sites are deep enough to practice dives.

Gili Islands

Around the three Gili Islands there are 16 dive sites; Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air. Jukung ships can enter all the sites and the journey time is no more than 25 minutes. This means you don't have to travel half of your time to get to the dive site! To me, this is a big plus point as I tend to get a little sick from the ocean, particularly after a dive, due to the invasion of my nose by salt water.

I made a total of eight dives, and each one was absolutely fantastic. I've seen lots of beautiful things like cuttlefish, octopus, black tip reef sharks, boxfish (my personal favorite), pufferfish and turtles, just to name a few.

Dive Masters

I was supposed to buddy up on my last dive with my newly qualified sister But one of the Dive Masters suggested I go with another team to do a more experienced drift dive as he believed it was the best dive site in the region. Thank God I did! This was the most incredible dive I've ever done. I was lucky enough to find a beautiful parrot fish 2 meters long. Watching Science Articles, this fish was incredibly beautiful, shining dark green in crystal clear waters. This dive really was the highlight of my whole itinerary in Indonesia.

This dive was truly the highlight of my entire Indonesia itinerary.

You can have all the fun and excitement at the padi idc Indonesia dive resort whether you are a professional diver or just a beginner.

These beautiful islands with awesome and accessible dive sites are the perfect island getaway.
